About
Marcy Robertson is an Associate Professor (Reader) in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Melbourne. Her work focuses on algebraic topology and homotopical algebraic structures, particularly infinity operads, properads, and props. She completed her PhD at the University of Illinois-Chicago in 2010 under Brooke Shipley and held postdoctoral positions at UCLA and under J.F. Jardine and Benoit Fresse before joining Melbourne in 2015.
Her research explores models for infinity operads, their applications in low-dimensional topology and geometry, and connections to quantum algebra and category theory. She currently receives funding through an Australian Research Council Future Fellowship (2021-2025) to develop the theory of infinity modular and cyclic operads and study variations of Teichmüller space.
Selected publications highlight trends in Kashiwara-Vergne theory, Grothendieck-Teichmüller groups, modular operads, and wheeled properads. These works intersect algebraic topology, category theory, and quantum algebra.
