Professor Sue McAllister is an Honorary Associate and a leading academic in speech pathology and health professions education. She currently serves as Associate Dean of Work Integrated Learning at the University of Canberra and holds affiliations with the Centre for Disability Research and Policy. Her work focuses on enhancing health workforce development through evidence-based clinical education and competency assessment systems like COMPASS®. She has led transformative research in work-integrated learning and clinical assessment practices, impacting over 15 health professions. Research Interests: Development of high-quality disability and health workforces, workplace performance assessment, interprofessional learning, and competency-based education. Her contributions include pioneering the COMPASS® assessment tool and advancing valid clinical evaluation frameworks. Grants: Over $2M secured, including projects on communication accessibility in healthcare and allied health placements. Awards: Multiple national recognitions, including Fellow of Speech Pathology Australia and teaching excellence citations. Her recent projects include 'Communication for Safe Care' (co-designing principles for communication disabilities in healthcare) and 'Assessment of Workplace Performance' (validity frameworks for health professions).
