Professor Tadeusz Stolarski is a Research Professor in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Brunel University's College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences. He holds advanced degrees including a DSc(Eng) from Technical University of Cracow and has been honored as Titular Professor by the President of Poland. His research focuses on tribology, surface mechanics, and high-speed air bearings, with collaborations at institutions like the University of Tokyo and Technical University of Gdansk. He has attracted over £250K in research funding from EPSRC, DTI, and industry partners like SKF and Castrol. Teaching interests include Fracture Mechanics, Flight Mechanics, and Tribology. Education: MSc (1970) and PhD (1975) from Technical University of Gdańsk; DIC (1979) from Imperial College London; DSc(Eng) (1981) from Technical University of Cracow. Research emphasizes surface fatigue of ceramics/polymers, boundary lubrication, and dry face seals. Notable collaborations include studies on crack propagation visualization at Chiba University and laser techniques at Ashikaga Institute of Technology. Awards include Titular Professorship (1993). Grants and projects span £250K over five years from EPSRC, DTI, and industry. Active in consultancy for companies like Advanced Bearing Technology and Compact Radial Compressors. Over 100 publications in tribology, materials science, and mechanical engineering journals.
