Stijn Ruiter is a Professor of Evidence-Based Policing at the Department of Criminology, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam , and a Senior Researcher at the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR) . He holds a PhD in Social Sciences (2008) and MA in Sociology (2002) from Radboud University Nijmegen.
