Roles and Affiliations: Vivek Bhattacharya is an Associate Professor of Economics at Northwestern University's Department of Economics, housed within the Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences. He is also a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). Education: PhD in Economics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2017) B.S. in Economics and Physics, Duke University (2012), Summa Cum Laude with High Honors Research Interests: Vivek’s research focuses on Industrial Organization, with a particular emphasis on auctions, contests, antitrust policy, and rational inattention. His work applies game-theoretic frameworks to analyze strategic behavior in markets, regulatory mechanisms, and decision-making under uncertainty. Notable projects include studies on merger simulations, fiduciary duty in financial advice, and the design of retirement savings plans.
