Research Fellow
Eduardo Flores Sandoval is a Research Fellow at the School of Biological Sciences, Monash University, specializing in Plant Genetics, Evolutionary Developmental Biology (Evo-Devo), and Bryophyte Biology. His work focuses on understanding developmental processes and hormonal regulation in liverworts, particularly Marchantia polymorpha. He collaborates internationally on projects related to plant evolution and molecular mechanisms underlying morphogenesis. His research interests include the genetic control of pluripotency, phototropism/gravitropism mechanisms, and the evolution of reproductive systems in bryophytes. He contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals by advancing knowledge in plant biology that may inform ecological and agricultural practices. Key recent articles explore hormonal regulation in bryophytes, PIN-FORMED gene functions, and the renaissance of Marchantia as a model organism. His work has been widely cited and shared across platforms like Mendeley and Wikipedia, highlighting its impact in plant science communities. Eduardo actively mentors PhD students and maintains an open-door policy for collaborative research. His lab’s current projects include investigating auxin signaling evolution and cell wall architecture in early land plants.
