Nikolaos Boukas is the Acting Vice Chairperson and Professor of Tourism & Hospitality Management at the Department of Management and Marketing, European University Cyprus. He holds a PhD in Management Studies from the University of Exeter (UK), alongside MSc degrees in Tourism Management (University of the Aegean, Greece) and Marketing (University of Stirling, UK), and a BBA from the University of the Aegean. His academic career spans 15+ years, progressing from Lecturer (2008) to Associate Professor (2012) and his current Professor rank (2017). His research focuses on sustainable tourism development, cultural heritage management, and policy-driven solutions for island destinations. Key themes include rural tourism’s impact on well-being, visitor experience design in museums, and post-pandemic recovery strategies for SMEs. He has contributed to 30+ peer-reviewed publications and co-authored the book Tourism Marketing in Western Europe . Research Projects: Coordinated EU-funded initiatives like ERASMUS+ Hotel Academy (2019–2022) and participated in the EMME-CCI Climate Change Initiative as Cyprus’ taskforce representative. Editorial Roles: Serves as Book Review Editor for International Journal of Tourism Policy and Editor for Tourism subjects in Sustainability Journal . Consultancy: Member of international conference committees, including ICOT 2022 and THE INC 2022. He has delivered guest lectures on sustainable tourism at institutions like Middlesex University and contributed to policy dialogues on cultural tourism in Cyprus. His work bridges academic research with practical applications, emphasizing community-centric and climate-resilient tourism models.
