Sanjit Samaddar is a Lecturer in Interactive Media at the School of Arts and Creative Technologies, University of York. He holds a BEng in Computer Science and an MSc in Human-Centred Interactive Technologies from the same university. Currently pursuing a part-time PhD in Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), his research focuses on how older adults interact with robots and user-centered design of assistive technologies. He has worked on projects like the GUFO autonomous drone for elderly care and an AI chatbot for youth with social anxiety. His roles include Research Associate in Computer Science (2017–2020) and Associate Lecturer (2020–present). Research Interests: Human-Robot Interaction, accessibility evaluation (e.g., Consigliere Evaluation), cross-cultural icon design, and usability for disabled users. He has developed personas for participatory design and contributed to food waste reduction apps. Recent work includes eye-tracking studies on online consumer behavior. Teaching: Convened modules like 'Media Production for Interactive Environments' and 'Developing Interactive Media'. Supervised student projects on accessibility of streaming services, Twitter alt-text, and avatar accessibility. Publications: Key outputs include studies on older adults' robot preferences (CHI 2020), Consigliere Evaluation (CHI 2020), and persona extensions (NordiCHI 2020). Recent work (2025) explores online scarcity messaging in hospitality contexts.
