Chie Nozaki is a dedicated Japanese Language Instructor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign , serving within the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures under the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences . She is also affiliated as an instructor with the Center for East Asian & Pacific Studies and provides language support for the Program in Translation & Interpreting Studies . Her educational background includes a Master of Arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Arts from Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan. Her research focuses on Japanese language pedagogy , second language acquisition , and Japanese linguistics , with a particular emphasis on the Tadoku (extensive reading) method , which she integrates into her teaching practices to enhance language acquisition. Chie Nozaki teaches a wide range of Japanese language courses, including Elementary Japanese through the UIUC IFLIP (Intensive Foreign Language Instruction Program), Intermediate Japanese I-II (JAPN 203, 204), Advanced Japanese I-II (JAPN 305, 306), and Fourth Year Japanese I-II (JAPN 440, 441).
