Associate Professor
Penpatra Sripaiboonkij is an Associate Professor at the University College Dublin School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science. She holds academic leadership roles, including Programme Director for the MSc Occupational Safety and Health and Higher Diploma in Safety, Health and Wellbeing at Work. Her research focuses on occupational health hazards, particularly respiratory health, work physiology, and epidemiological risk assessment in industries like poultry, mining, and healthcare. Education and Certifications: BSc from Mahidol University (Thailand) MSc from Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand) and University of Birmingham (UK) PhD from University of Birmingham Professional Diploma in University Teaching & Learning (UCD) Digital Badge in Universal Design for Teaching & Learning (2023) Research Interests: Her work addresses occupational hazards such as indoor air quality, cold exposure, hearing protection, and pandemic preparedness. She employs epidemiological methods and interdisciplinary approaches to identify susceptible populations and design preventive measures. Recent studies include cold-related symptoms in Thai poultry workers and the mental health impacts of workplace adaptations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Awards: UCD Teaching and Learning Award 2019/2020 for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning Professional Contributions: She chairs the School Academic Integrity Committee, serves on UCD’s Executive H&S Committee, and participates in anti-racism initiatives. Her teaching focuses on occupational hygiene, safety technology, and occupational health modules, coordinating projects that address ergonomic risks, fire safety protocols, and safety management systems in construction and other industries.
