Dr. Jinoop Arackal Narayanan is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at Teesside University's School of Computing, Engineering & Digital Technologies. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM). His career includes roles at Cranfield University, the University of Waterloo, and the Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology in India. He holds a PhD in Laser Additive Manufacturing from the Homi Bhabha National Institute and has over a decade of experience in additive manufacturing research. His expertise spans metal AM, process window development, advanced materials processing, and in-situ/ex-situ material characterization. He has authored a textbook on Additive Manufacturing (McGraw-Hill) and serves on editorial boards for journals like Additive Manufacturing and Crystals . His research interests include advanced materials development, additive manufacturing processes, surface engineering, and sustainable manufacturing. He leads collaborative projects with industries and institutions worldwide, focusing on topics like hydrogen embrittlement resistance, maritime decarbonization, and biosensor development. Awards include the Young Scientist Award (2019), Best PhD Thesis (2022), and multiple best paper/poster recognitions. Dr. Narayanan teaches modules in manufacturing systems, processes, and sustainable engineering. He actively supervises PhD students and collaborates on grants involving innovative AM applications, from aerospace components to biomedical devices.
