Michael Chen
Michael Chen (X.K. Chen) is a retired Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics at Simon Fraser University. His research focuses on advanced spectroscopic techniques, particularly Raman spectroscopy, applied to materials science and biomedical applications. He holds a B.Sc. from Zhongshan University and a Ph.D. from the City University of New York (CUNY).
Chen’s work spans diverse areas including semiconductor nanomaterials (e.g., GaAs nanowires), superconductivity (YBa₂Cu₃O₇ and MgB₂), and biomedical diagnostics (e.g., cancer tissue characterization via Raman spectroscopy). His contributions have been published in journals like Applied Physics Letters, Journal of Raman Spectroscopy, and Physical Review B.
While currently retired, he previously contributed to teaching and research at SFU. His publications highlight interdisciplinary applications of spectroscopy in both fundamental physics and clinical diagnostics.
