Mattias Frihammar, Lecturer at Stockholm University's Department of Ethnology, History of Religions and Gender Studies, is a scholar specializing in cultural heritage, collective memory, and the intersection of nature and culture. He chairs the Critical Heritage Studies Network and coordinates the Bachelor’s Program in Museums and Cultural Heritage . Current research explores Cold War heritage, invasive species' cultural implications, and visual silences in archival photography. Prior teaching roles include Halmstad University and Södertörn University. Research Themes : Frihammar’s work critically examines how cultural heritage is produced through power dynamics, gender roles, and emotional engagement. His projects address: Military heritage and gendered nostalgia in Cold War Sweden Invasive species as cultural symbols of belonging and exclusion Visual and narrative silences in museum archives Publications : His recent articles analyze Cold War memory practices, invasive species in cultural landscapes, and gendered interpretations of heritage. Projects like Making a Military Heritage and The Politics of Invasive Alien Species highlight interdisciplinary approaches to Swedish cultural identity.
