Teaching Professor
Dr. Cheryl Lim is a full-time Teaching Professor of Flute at the School of the Arts, Singapore (founded by the National University of Singapore), where she has served since 2011. She specializes in historical performance practices, contemporary music, and educational outreach. Lim founded the New Epoch Orchestral (NEO) ensemble and performs with groups like Wu Xian Quintet. She is also an active performer with orchestras such as the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra and Singapore Lyric Opera. Education: Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA), Peabody Institute of Music (2014) Master’s Degree, Manhattan School of Music Bachelor’s Degree (1st Class Honours), Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music Her research interests include baroque flute performance (traverso), modern chamber music, and interdisciplinary collaborations. Lim has performed at venues like the Esplanade Concert Hall and premiered Singaporean compositions at the 2016 National Flute Association Convention. She also explores pedagogical approaches to early music through historical treatises and modern pedagogy.
