Igor Karsko

Igor Karsko is a Professor at the Institute of Classical and Church Music within the Lucerne School of Music (HSLU). His primary affiliations include the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, where he has served as 1st Concertmaster since 1993. He is also founder of the Baroque ensembles 'La Banda ANTIX' and 'La Gioconda.'

• Education: Studied at the Conservatory of Košice under K. Petroczi, Prague Academy of Performing Arts under Jiri Tomasek, and received special training in chamber music and conducting from Lord Yehudi Menuhin at the Menuhin Academy Gstaad.

Research interests focus on Baroque violin techniques, historical performance practices, and chamber music interpretation. He performs on the renowned 1768 Lorenzo Storioni violin 'Il Viotti.' Recent activities emphasize reviving early music traditions through his ensembles and pedagogical work.

Notable career highlights include memberships in the 'The Serenade Strings Trio' (winners of international chamber music competitions), roles as concertmaster for orchestras like Camerata Zürich, and collaborations with prestigious ensembles such as the Zurich Chamber Orchestra.
