Akiko Ono

Akiko Ono is a distinguished violinist and Professor of Violin at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London, and the Yehudi Menuhin School. She is renowned for her performances with major orchestras globally, including the NHK Symphony Orchestra and London Mozart Players, and has collaborated with conductors such as Shlomo Mintz and Yutaka Sado. Her career began with prestigious competition wins, including first prizes at the Yehudi Menuhin (2000) and Viotti-Valsesia (2002) competitions.

Her educational contributions include leadership roles in initiatives like the Orpheus Sinfonia and Yutaka Sado’s Super Kids Orchestra. She launched the MusicSpace summer violin course at the University of Cambridge in 2016. Notable recordings include Out of the Mist—British Violin Pieces (2018) and Favourite Violin Pieces with Ichiro Nodaira.

Akiko emphasizes outreach, working with UNICEF, Red Cross, and Live Music Now. She studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna under Dora Schwarzberg and Michael Frischenschlager.
