Zhijun Chen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Monash University. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Toulouse School of Economics (2006) and a Ph.D. in Management Science from Wuhan University (2002). His research focuses on Industrial Organization, Competition Policy, Contract Theory, and Applied Microeconomics. He is a Chief Investigator in the 'Big data: implications for competition, privacy and regulation' project (2021–2026).
His research interests include antitrust economics, regulatory policy, and market competition dynamics. Recent work explores data-driven mergers, personalized pricing strategies, and exploitative abuse in markets. His contributions are published in leading journals like the American Economic Review, RAND Journal of Economics, and Journal of Law and Economics. He teaches ECF5410 at Monash University.
Key research areas span vertical integration, cross-subsidization, and privacy regulation. His projects address modern challenges in competition policy, leveraging economic analysis to inform policy decisions.
