Zhang Ya-Ping is a Professor at the Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and has held numerous leadership roles, including Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2012–present), President of the Genetics Society of China (2013–present), and Honorary President of Yunnan University (2013–present). He completed his B.S. in Biochemistry at Fudan University (1982–1986) and a Ph.D. in Animal Genetics at the Kunming Institute of Zoology, CAS (1986–1991). His research focuses on molecular phylogeny, genome diversity, human evolution, and conservation genetics.
