Zhang Jin Min

Zhang Jin Min is an Associate Professor and Head of Woodwinds at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore. He holds a distinguished career as a performer, educator, and administrator in music. His roles include former Principal Bassoonist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and current Guest Principal of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra.

Education:

• Graduated from Beijing Central Conservatory of Music (1982)
• French government scholarship recipient at Paris Conservatoire (Gold Medal in Chamber Music)
• Master of Music from Geneva Superior Conservatory

Research & Expertise: Specializes in bassoon performance, chamber music, and woodwind pedagogy. Active in orchestral collaborations and masterclasses globally, with a focus on bridging Eastern and Western musical traditions.

• Gold Medal for Chamber Music (Paris Conservatoire)
• First Artist Consultant to China Association of Musicians (Bassoon Association)

Teaching & Leadership: Founded YST’s woodwind chamber music program, conducts the Conservatory Chamber Winds, and advises the Singapore Symphony Orchestra’s artistic committee. Serves on the Board of the Asian Double Reed Association.
