Zhanbo Yang, Ph.D., is a Professor of Mathematics and Associate Dean of the School of Mathematics, Sciences and Engineering at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW). He has been affiliated with UIW since 1997, with a five-year hiatus in industry (2000–2005 at Oberthur Gaming Technology). Prior to UIW, he taught at Shawnee State University (1989–1997).
Dr. Yang holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Auburn University (1989), and M.S. and B.S. in Mathematics from Heilongjiang University, China (1985 and 1982, respectively).
His research interests include General Topology, Mathematical Modelling, and General Systems Theory. He has taught a wide range of courses across undergraduate and graduate levels, including foundational mathematics, advanced analysis, algebra, and numerical methods. He has also served in administrative roles, such as Vice President of the UIW Faculty Senate and Department Chair.
In addition to academia, Dr. Yang enjoys playing music with the San Antonio Chinese Orchestra and photography focusing on landscaping and wildlife.
