Suleyman Tek is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) in San Antonio, Texas. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Bilkent University (2007) and has held academic positions at UIW since 2009, including roles as Principal Investigator (PI) of an NSF S-STEM grant. Previously, he served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (2007–2008) and adjunct faculty there (2008–2009).
His research focuses on Applied Mathematics, with specialties in differential geometry of integrable systems, soliton surfaces, biomembrane modeling, and optimization in petroleum engineering. He teaches advanced courses such as Mathematical Modeling of Natural Processes, Complex Variables, and Differential Equations.
Dr. Tek co-advises the UIW Math Club and has organized conferences like the SPE Europec 2018 and International Petroleum Technology Conference. His work bridges pure mathematics with applications in energy systems and biological processes.
