Youssef Hamidi

Youssef Hamidi is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL), within the College of Science and Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and an Ingenieur D'Etat (combined MSc/BSc) in Mechanical Engineering from École Mohammadia d'Ingénieurs in Morocco. His expertise lies in advanced composites and nanocomposite materials, focusing on analysis, manufacturing, characterization, and design. Dr. Hamidi’s research integrates organic chemistry, applied mechanics, and processing science, with applications in aerospace, energy, and automotive industries. He has published extensively on topics such as silk-reinforced composites, additive manufacturing, and medical glove durability under repeated disinfection.

His teaching portfolio includes courses like ENGR 1201 (Introduction to Engineering), MENG 3303 (Solid Mechanics), MENG 3324 (Materials Science), and specialized courses in composite materials. His research projects emphasize improving cost-effective manufacturing processes and modeling composite durability through simulation and experimentation. Notable contributions include studies on polymer/fiber affinity in silk composites, moisture absorption in micro/nanocomposites, and the impact of processing parameters on additive-manufactured materials.
