Hussain Rizvi is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL), part of the College of Science and Engineering. He joined UHCL in Fall 2024 after serving as an Instructional Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Tyler. Dr. Rizvi holds a B.E. in Biomedical Engineering from NED University of Engineering & Technology, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of North Texas (UNT).
His research focuses on sustainable bio-products and bioinspired design, particularly in material science and mechanics. Specific interests include corrosion-resistant polymer coatings, renewable carbon fiber development, and nanomaterial integration. He teaches courses such as ENGR 1201 (Introduction to Engineering), ENGR 2301 (Statics), and MENG 4310 (Dynamics and Control of Mechanical Systems).
Dr. Rizvi's recent projects involve synthesizing nano-plate reinforced polymer coatings to reduce permeation rates and developing carbon fibers from eco-friendly sources. His publications span bioinspired materials, thermal conductivity composites, and sustainable polymer films.
