Youngbok Ryu, PhD, is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Business and Technology Management at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (New Mexico Tech), where he has been teaching economics, management, and policy courses since 2017. He plays a key role in advancing campus entrepreneurship through leadership in the statewide Studio G program and by advising the student entrepreneurship club.

He explores the application of patent data in innovation analysis and contributes to regional economic development strategies. His interdisciplinary background bridges engineering, management, and public policy.
His prior professional experience includes roles as an Assistant Policy Researcher at the RAND Corporation and a Christine Mirzayan Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Before transitioning into academia, he served as a military officer in the Corps of Engineering and spent five years as a patent information analyst and consultant, supporting technology commercialization for small businesses.
Dr. Ryu is actively engaged in building entrepreneurial capacity at New Mexico Tech and fostering innovation in regional economies.
