Włodzimierz Promiński

Włodzimierz Promiński serves as Professor of Art and current Dean of the Faculty of Instrumental-Pedagogy, Music Education and Vocal Studies at the Białystok Branch of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. A renowned violinist with over 40 years of performance experience, he founded and leads the internationally acclaimed CAMERATA QUARTET, touring extensively across five continents while maintaining active pedagogical duties.

His educational foundation includes:

• Master's degree from Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (diploma with distinction) under Franciszek Jurys
• PSM I/II degrees in Opole (diploma with distinction) under Karol Reiman
• Chamber music studies at Hochschule für Musik Cologne with Amadeus Quartet
• Advanced training at Hochschule für Musik Hans Eisler Berlin and Detmold

Promiński's artistic specialization centers on chamber music interpretation and violin pedagogy, with significant contributions to the rediscovery of early 20th-century Polish composers. His recent projects feature world-premiere recordings of Roman Statkowski and Witold Maliszewski's string quartets, reflecting deep engagement with Poland's musical heritage while maintaining international performance standards.

His extensive recognition includes:

• Two 'Gloria Artis' Medals (Silver 2024, Bronze 2009)
• Four-time recipient of UMFC Rector's Award (1st degree)
• Multiple international competition prizes including Paris UFAM (1st Prize 1990) and Tokyo Chamber Music Competition (3rd Prize 1989)
• Phonographic honors: Diapason d'Or, Fryderyk Award (1999), and Studio Magazine Album of the Year (1995)

As an academic leader, Promiński has held successive administrative roles including Department Head (2019-present) and previous Deanship (2008-2012). He extends his pedagogical influence through annual music courses in Gorlice, Opole, and Janowiec, while directing the Gorlice Music Autumn Festival and presiding over the Polish Chamber Music Society.
