Rafał Kwiatkowski

Rafał Kwiatkowski is a Professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, where he has been a member of the Instrumental Department faculty since 2005. An internationally acclaimed cellist, he has performed as a soloist across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia, with notable appearances at Tokyo's Suntory Hall, New York's Carnegie Hall, and major festivals worldwide. His career includes collaborations with orchestras such as the Munich Philharmonic, National Philharmonic, and Warsaw Philharmonic, and premieres of works by Krzysztof Penderecki under the composer's direction.

Professor Kwiatkowski is a graduate and doctoral alumnus of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. His education at this institution established the foundation for his distinguished performance career, marked by first prizes at international competitions in New York, Baltimore, Leipzig, Ljubljana, Viña del Mar, and Kuhmo, along with second prize at the Paulo Cello Competition in Helsinki.

His artistic expertise centers on cello performance with deep specialization in Polish contemporary repertoire and chamber music. He maintains significant artistic partnerships with figures including Krzysztof Penderecki, Krystian Zimerman, Maxim Vengerov, and Christoph Eschenbach, while also exploring cross-genre collaborations such as the album 'Polanna' with Anna Maria Jopek. His performance philosophy bridges classical tradition with innovative interpretations of modern compositions.
