William F. Bender

William F. Bender is a Lecturer in the Department of Social Work at Kutztown University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in Pennsylvania with a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Maryland School of Social Work and Community Planning.

Mr. Bender brings over 30 years of experience in administering mental health programs, including acute inpatient, partial hospital, residential, and outpatient services for mental health and chemical dependency. His teaching interests span key areas in social work such as Social Policy, Case Management, Gerontology, and Psychopathology. He has previously taught at Pennsylvania State University and Marywood University.

He maintains an active role in community engagement, serving on multiple advisory boards and committees in Berks County, including the Berks AIDS Network, Reading-Berks Mental Health Association, and the Patient Safety Committee at Haven Behavioral Hospital. His volunteer work reflects a commitment to social advocacy, community revitalization, and addressing poverty and mental health challenges.
