Wendell Sutton

Dr. Wendell Sutton is a Professor at the School of Ministry, Mid-America Christian University, Oklahoma City. A lifelong Oklahoman and citizen of the Cherokee Nation, he holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law (1986) and a Master of Arts in Theology from Southern Nazarene University (2010). He transitioned from a legal career to academia, teaching theology, ethics, church law, and justice-related courses.

Active in university governance, he served multiple terms in the University Senate and chaired key committees including Academic Honesty and Integrity and Student Conduct Appeals.

Personal details include his marriage to Elaine since 1983, two adult children, three grandchildren, and ordination as a minister in 2008.
