Wei Shi

Dr. Wei Shi is a Professor of Law at Bangor University, specializing in intellectual property law and global trade systems. He holds administrative roles including Founding Director of the Bangor Confucius Institute (the first with a legal focus globally), Director of Postgraduate Studies, and Law School Ethics Officer. His academic journey includes a Master’s from Renmin University of China and a PhD from the University of Cambridge. Dr. Shi’s research examines the intersection of intellectual property rights and international trade, with a focus on China-EU dynamics. He teaches modules on global trade law, international arbitration, and Chinese legal systems at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His work has been cited in top-tier journals like the Harvard International Law Journal and Chicago Journal of International Law. Awards include the China Scholarship Council’s National Scholarship and Cambridge Overseas Scholarship. He has supervised 14 PhD students (10 as primary supervisor) and currently mentors 4 more.
