Wayne Burnette is a Senior Lecturer in Social Work at the School of Health Sciences, University of Greenwich. A registered nurse with post-registration qualifications in cardiothoracic nursing, his research focuses on patient empowerment, medication adherence, psychological factors in health, and maternal-child mental health. Burnette has contributed to several Research Council grants, including studies on concordance interventions for diabetes management and expressive writing for postnatal mental health.
His teaching responsibilities include leading research project courses for health and social care professionals. Burnette maintains clinical connections through his previous roles as a Senior Research Nurse in the NIHR Comprehensive Local Research Network and clinical positions at leading NHS trusts including Royal Brompton & Harefield and Papworth hospitals.
