Vipin B

Vipin B is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur). He earned his PhD from IIT Madras in 2017, following an M.Tech in Industrial Engineering and Management from NIT Calicut (2010) and a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from GEC Kozhikode (2008).

His research focuses on Decision Theory, Behavioral Operations Management, Supply Chain Contracts, Optimization in Operations Management, Sustainable Operations, Healthcare Operations, Operations-Finance Interface, and Agricultural Supply Chain Management. His work bridges theoretical operations management concepts with practical applications across various industries.

Vipin B has published extensively in top-tier operations management journals including Annals of Operations Research, Computers & Industrial Engineering, Vaccine, Resources Conservation and Recycling, Omega, and European Journal of Operational Research. His publications demonstrate a strong focus on behavioral aspects of supply chain decisions, sustainable operations, and healthcare logistics.

He has received the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Fellowship in 2015 and won the Best paper award at the DoMS Research Symposium 2016 at IIT Madras. His research on lead-acid battery recycling has been featured in prominent media outlets including The Times of India, The Print, and The Hindu.

Vipin B is a member of professional organizations including INFORMS and IIIE. He has previously served as a Project Officer at the Center for Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research at IIT Madras (2017) and as an Ad-hoc Lecturer at NIT Calicut (2011-12).
