Valeska von Rosen is a Professor of Art History at Ruhr-Universität Bochum since 2006, leading the Department of Art History. She has held visiting professorships at Universität Jena (2005–2006) and Universität Potsdam (2003), and fellowships at institutions like the Bibliotheca Hertziana in Rome and the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin.
Her research focuses on Spanish and Italian Baroque art, Renaissance studies, art theory, and contemporary photography. She explores themes like poiesis, self-portraiture across eras, and the intersection of art and rhetoric in antiquity and early modern periods.
Key awards include the Dr. Peter-Deubner-Preis (2003) and a DFG fellowship (1999–2002). Her academic journey includes a PhD from Freie Universität Berlin (1998) and studies at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.
