Margit Kern is a Professor of Art History at the University of Hamburg, holding a W3 Professorship since 2012. She previously served as a W2 Professor for History of Spanish and Latin American Art at Freie Universität Berlin (2011-2012) and as a W1 Professor at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin's Theological Faculty (2009-2011). Her academic journey includes a habilitation in 2010 at Freie Universität Berlin, focusing on concepts of sacrifice in New Spain and Europe during the early modern era.
