Tracey Cekada

Tracey Cekada serves as Professor and Chairperson of the Safety Sciences and Environmental Engineering Department at Indiana University of Pennsylvania within the John J. and Char Kopchick College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. She joined IUP in 2005 after accumulating 13 years of industry experience at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, Johns Hopkins University, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and Concurrent Technologies Corporation.

Her educational background includes:

• BS in Occupational Health and Safety from Slippery Rock University
• MS in Environmental Science and Policy from Johns Hopkins University
• Doctorate in Information Systems and Communications from Robert Morris University

Dr. Cekada's research spans occupational safety, healthcare safety, industrial hygiene, environmental health, and information systems integration. Her work bridges technical safety practices with modern information systems, particularly in healthcare environments, resulting in numerous national conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications.

Professional recognition includes:

• Dr. William E. Tarrants Outstanding Safety Educator Award (2016)

She maintains active leadership in the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) as former chair of the Education Committee on the ASSP Foundation Board of Trustees.
