Todd Alan Gallagher

Todd Alan Gallagher serves as Instructor of Double Bass and Jazz Combos at the School of Music within Indiana State University's College of Arts & Sciences, actively performing with the Danville, Champaign-Urbana, and Lafayette Symphonies while leading his own jazz quartet.

His educational foundation includes:

• Bachelor of Music (B.M.) from Indiana State University
• Master of Music (M.M.) in Double Bass Performance from Indiana State University (2002)

Specializing in diverse musical genres spanning jazz, classical, rock, funk, country, and world music, Gallagher focuses on double bass performance techniques and ensemble leadership in jazz combos. His pedagogical approach integrates training under renowned bassists David Murray, Donovan Stokes, Todd Coolman, and Rufus Reid with three decades of practical performance experience across multiple styles.

With over 30 years mentoring bass students in higher education and private studios, Gallagher maintains dual expertise as both educator and active performer—serving as house bassist for Beef House Dinner Theater while freelancing across jazz and commercial music scenes on electric and upright bass.

His professional identity centers on ensemble leadership through his jazz quartet and symphonic engagements, demonstrating continuous commitment to both academic instruction and live performance within regional music communities.
