Toby Christian

Toby Christian is a Senior Lecturer in 3D Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, where he has taught since 2009 and currently serves as the 3D Pathway Leader for the BA Fine Art program. His interdisciplinary practice spans sculpture, performance, artist publications, and exhibitions presented internationally at venues including Tate Modern, Whitechapel Gallery, and MUDAM Luxembourg.

Research Interests: Christian explores materiality, urban anthropology, literary adaptation, and anatomical studies through multidisciplinary approaches. His work interrogates everyday rituals, bodily experiences, and linguistic structures, often transforming mundane subjects into complex artistic investigations that bridge conceptual depth with formal innovation.

Artistic Outputs: Recent works (2019-2024) demonstrate recurring themes of human transience, social rituals, and textual interplay. His outputs reveal a consistent progression toward integrating performance, sculptural installation, and publication art, with heightened focus on urban commuting, biological metaphors, and literary reinterpretation across diverse media.
