Timothy P. Stevens

Dr. Timothy P. Stevens is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, specializing in Neonatology. He serves as an attending neonatologist at UR Medicine Golisano Children's Hospital and Rochester General Hospital. In 2015, he became Chief Clinical Officer for UR Medicine's Golisano Children's Hospital, overseeing inpatient and outpatient services. Previously, he served 12 years as Medical Director of the UR GCH Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Dr. Stevens' research focuses on pulmonary outcomes of premature infants, particularly the neonatal antecedents leading to ongoing pulmonary care in childhood. His work investigates oxygen exposure effects on airway dysfunction, the impact of air pollution on preterm birth, and quality improvement initiatives in neonatal care. He has contributed extensively to studies on surfactant therapy, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and respiratory syncytial virus prophylaxis.

His notable awards include the Ruth A. Lawrence Faculty Service Award for Clinical Services (2012), Health Care Achievement Award for Innovation (2010), University of Rochester Medical Center Board Excellence Award (2009), and Excellence in Teaching Award (2000). Dr. Stevens has led statewide collaboratives to reduce NICU central line-associated bloodstream infections and improve growth outcomes for premature infants.
