Tim Nicholson

Dr. Tim Nicholson is a Professor of Neuropsychiatry at King’s College London, leading the Neuropsychiatry Research & Education Group (NREG) within the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN). He is also an Honorary Consultant Neuropsychiatrist at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. His work focuses on Functional Neurological Disorders (FND), immunopsychiatry, and neuropsychiatric complications of conditions like COVID-19. He leads pioneering multidisciplinary clinics for FND and has published extensively on mechanisms, treatments (e.g., TMS, psychedelics), and outcome measures. He co-edited Pocket Prescriber Psychiatry and authored multiple pharmacology textbooks. He holds executive roles in the Royal College of Psychiatrists, British Neuropsychiatry Association, and chairs the MSc in Clinical Neuropsychiatry at IoPPN.
