Thomas V. Draude

Thomas V. Draude is an Adjunct Instructor at the University of South Florida’s School of Interdisciplinary Global Studies, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a BS from the US Naval Academy (1962) and an MMAS from the US Army Command and General Staff College (1976).

• Career Highlights:
• Retired as a Brigadier General in the US Marine Corps after 30+ years, including combat tours in Vietnam (three deployments) and Operation Desert Storm.
• Recipient of ten combat awards, including two Silver Star Medals and the Purple Heart Medal.
• Served on President George H.W. Bush’s Commission on the Assignment of Women in the Armed Forces.

Post-Military Roles:

• Senior Vice President and General Manager at USAA (Tampa).
• CEO/PRESIDENT of the Marine Corps University Foundation (Quantico, VA) for 11 years.
• Adjunct faculty at St. Leo University (2003, 2015–2019) and the US Army’s JFK Special Warfare Center.

Personal: Married to a Marine, with three adult children and four grandchildren.
