Susan Smith

Susan Smith is a Methods Advisor at Queen Mary University of London’s Wolfson Institute of Population Health, part of the NIHR Research Support Service Hub. She joined QMUL in 2023, supporting researchers in funding applications for applied health and social care research. Previously, she worked for ten years as a Research Adviser with the NIHR Research Design Service East of England. Her research background includes laboratory-based studies in cell and molecular biology, particularly within a Vitamin D Research Group. She has also held roles in NHS and academic research environments, including research governance.

Smith serves on the Health Research Authority Research Ethics Committee and was a member of Crohn’s & Colitis UK’s Research Awards Panel (2018–2024). Her expertise spans translational research methodologies and ethical research practices.
