Susan Johnson

Dr. Susan Johnson is an Associate Professor at the University of Southern Mississippi, affiliated with the School of Health Professions within the College of Nursing and Health Professions. Her work focuses on health disparities, community health workers, and rural health interventions, utilizing community-based participatory research (CBPR) frameworks.

Dr. Johnson's research examines academic-community partnerships to address systemic health inequities, particularly in underserved Mississippi Delta populations. Her publications highlight Photovoice as a participatory method, social marketing in health, and the role of CHWs in chronic disease management and abuse recovery.

She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in health promotion, community health, qualitative research methods, and health disparities. Her pedagogical innovations include developing online curricula for health education and executive MPH programs.
