Janine M. Jurkowski is a Professor and Department Chair at the University at Albany's College of Integrated Health Sciences Department of Health Policy, Management and Behavior. With a PhD in Community Health Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago, she specializes in community-based participatory research (CBPR) addressing health disparities through:
- Family-centered childhood obesity prevention programs
- Empowerment theory applications in low-income communities
- Latino and disability health equity initiatives
- CBPR methodology development
