Susan Biro

Susan Biro serves as an affiliate assistant professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), where she teaches PSYC 501: Applied Learning Science in the post-master's Certificate in College Teaching and Learning Sciences program. With 25 years of expertise in distance education, she holds key roles as a QM Coordinator and serves on the Quality Matters Academic Advisory Council (QMAAC) through 2027, having previously led eLearning initiatives at Prince George's Community College, Carroll Community College, and Berkeley College.

Her educational credentials include a Doctor of Education in Leadership in Higher Education and Master of Education in Adult Education from Widener University, plus a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Delaware State University.

Dr. Biro specializes in designing and implementing online programs with deep expertise in learning management systems, faculty mentoring, and student retention strategies for virtual environments. Her work bridges educational technology with adult learning principles, particularly in credit-for-prior-learning assessment and portfolio development.
