Dr. Stuart Roe is Professor and Chair of the Department of Counselor Education at The College of New Jersey's School of Education. He holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from The Pennsylvania State University (2012), an M.Ed. in School Counseling from Penn State (2001), and a B.A. in Biology from Lycoming College (1997). His extensive background includes roles as a school counselor, program evaluator, grant manager, and international educator.
Dr. Roe's research focuses on critical areas of counseling practice including school counseling innovations, LGBTQ+ youth support systems, mental health stigma reduction, trauma-informed care, multicultural counseling approaches, and substance abuse prevention strategies. His work emphasizes social justice frameworks and practical interventions for diverse educational settings.
His scholarly publications demonstrate consistent focus on mental health advocacy, cultural competence in counseling, and educational equity. Recent work explores global applications of mental health first aid, social justice approaches to career development, and culturally responsive support systems for marginalized student populations.
