Steven Berryman

Dr. Steven Berryman is a Visiting Research Fellow at King's College London's Department of Music, situated within the School of Education, Communication & Society. He holds a dual role as Director of Music at City of London School for Girls and serves as a strategic champion for the City of London Education Strategy's Creative and Cultural Learning Forum. His academic background includes a BMus (Cardiff University, 2003), MMus (Royal Holloway, 2004), and PhD (Cardiff University, 2011).

Berryman's research focuses on co-creation practices in arts education and curriculum design to foster sustained musical engagement. He is also an active composer, with works performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Royal Opera House, and London Symphony Orchestra. His creative projects include transcriptions for Opera Holland Park and community-focused works like 'Old Street New Beginnings.'

He contributes to music policy through roles such as judge for the Royal Opera House's Fanfare Competition and consultant for initiatives like Create and Sing Carmen.
