Steven Batty

Steven Batty is a Senior Lecturer in Interior Architecture & Design at Sheffield Hallam University and Collaborative Course Leader at INTI University in Malaysia. He holds an MA in Design focusing on navigational strategies and inclusivity. His work bridges speculative design futures with pedagogical innovation.

Education:

Research Interests: Materiality, wayfinding systems, and the future of interiors. Explores design fiction and speculative briefs to reimagine spatial narratives. Advocates for hand-drawing techniques and digital innovation in education.

Teaching & Projects: Leads Level 4 modules (ID Space, Form & Architecture; ID People & Place) and Level 6 courses. Co-created the CoLAB project involving 160+ students annually on live client briefs. Orchestrated a transcontinental design sprint with INTI students leveraging 24/7 global collaboration.
