Jackie Leaver is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Art and Design at Sheffield Hallam University, affiliated with the College of Social Sciences and Arts. She teaches on the MA Design programme, specializing in Fashion and Interior Design. Holding an MA (Distinction) in Industrial Design from 2008, her research focuses on feminist spatial practice and care ethics, exploring future home concepts through everyday domestic practices. She is currently pursuing a practice-based PhD investigating spatial reimagining through intimate domestic spaces.
Her research collaborations include Lab4Living’s '100 Year Life' project and funded work with vulnerable populations such as older adults, dementia patients, and spinal injury patients. She employs creative methodologies like stop-frame animation, video, and design thinking to amplify narratives of people and places.
