Dr Stephen Lim is a Principal Clinical Research Fellow and Honorary Consultant in Geriatric Medicine at the University of Southampton's Faculty of Medicine. He completed his medical degree (2010) and PhD (2018) at the same institution, focusing on interventions to increase physical activity in hospitalized older adults.
His research interests center on physical activity promotion, nutrition, sarcopenia, and frailty. He leads projects such as the PIVOT study (volunteer-led physical activity interventions) and REFRESH (nutrition interventions in care homes). He serves on the British Geriatrics Society as ex-Chair of the Trainees Council (2017-2019) and holds external roles including invited speaker at national conferences.
Recent work includes studies on frailty prevalence in European emergency departments and the impact of anorexia on mortality. His articles frequently address cross-disciplinary topics like deprescribing strategies and volunteer-based healthcare models.
