About
Steffen Lindert is a Professor at The Ohio State University (OSU) and will join UCLA's Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in 2025. He holds an M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Leipzig (2006) and a Ph.D. in Chemical and Physical Biology from Vanderbilt University (2011). His postdoctoral research at UC San Diego focused on cardiac muscle simulations and drug discovery. Lindert's lab develops computational tools for protein structure prediction, molecular dynamics, and drug design, particularly targeting heart disease and neglected tropical diseases. He has received the American Heart Association Postdoctoral Fellowship.
Research interests include combining cryoEM data with computational methods, simulating biomolecular dynamics, and discovering drugs for heart failure and cancer. Recent work highlights small molecule inhibitors for troponin C, RAL G-proteins in breast cancer, and bacterial topoisomerase inhibitors. Lindert collaborates on mass spectrometry and machine learning applications in structural biology.
