Stavros Brekoulakis holds the Michael & Laura Hwang Chair in International Arbitration at the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Law. He is a leading academic and practitioner in international arbitration, recognized for his scholarly contributions and policy influence. His roles include Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Arbitration, Mediation and Dispute Management and General Editor of the Journal of International Dispute Settlement.

Research focuses on international arbitration law, investment disputes, and legal policy reform. He has advised governments and institutions globally, including the UK Department for International Trade and the Greek Ministry of Finance. His work on third-party funding in arbitration has shaped regulatory frameworks in Singapore and Hong Kong.
Leadership roles include Co-Chair of the ICCA Task Force on Third Party Funding and Co-convener of the Institute of Transnational Arbitration Task Force on The Rule of Law in International Investment Law. He also serves on the LCIA Court and the ICC Commission on Arbitration.
Recipient of the 2020 Global Arbitration Review Award for Best Public Lecture and recognized as a critical thinker in international arbitration by peers.
